Supporting Your Local SAR Dog
What We Need
Great Basin K-9 SAR is a volunteer organization and we do not charge the public safety organizations we support for our services. Our K-9 handlers are responsible for the care, feeding, and training of their K-9 partners and these expenses can run into thousands of dollars per year. Our members are happy to accept this responsibility but there is more to fielding an operational K-9 team than that. We need:
- Radios
- GPS
- Computers
- Tents and other base camp facilities
- All-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles
- Uniforms, packs, harnesses and other gear for handlers and K-9's
In addition, we would like to create a fund to:
- Reimburse handlers for travel expenses associated with training and operations
- Pay for veterinary expenses for dogs injured in the line of duty
